Fox Island Marauders - First match

My hattrick team played their first match today. I actually was pretty confidant that it'd be a victory, given the other player who got his team on the same day as me hasn't logged in yet to give any orders to his team.

Anyways, figured I'd put the match report up as a comment so if anyone wanted to see what it was like, they could. During the match you can watch it sort of live, with it updating one line at a time as time passes by. Like if a commentator was typing the information out for, say, a website like that rugby match report I linked to yesterday.

KCFC Alliance - Fox Island Marauders : 2 - 5

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 2489 to KCFC Alliance Arena. Alliance had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Dixon - Delatorre, Broome, Read, Piamonte - Milton, Quintero, Bynum, Lockwood - Rowan, Noble.

Marauders tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Rhodes - Oanã, Cárdenas, Obrien - Rehberge, Wray, Doherty, Vinkler, Davis - Lively, Quarles.

It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why Per Vinkler found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Christopher Bynum gave his Alliance the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Marauders's Seth Davis somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Daniel Quarles, who struck for 1 - 1. In the 31st minute Stu Noble almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. The referee showed Alliance's Christopher Bynum the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Herminio Cárdenas of Marauders spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Marauders appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only inadequate. Jody Rowan gave his Alliance the lead with 2 - 1, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. In the 45th minute, the excellent ball from the wing by Marauders's Ansbert Rehberge reached Dane Lively's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 2 - 2. Marauders's Dane Lively gave the visitors a 2 - 3 lead in the 45th minute with a superb strike from the right. Halftime score was 2 - 3. Marauders held the ball, with a clear 64 percent of possession.

During the break, Marauders's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organization. The game had been on for 47 minutes when Per Vinkler broke through on the right, upping the score for Marauders to 2 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. Marauders had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to passable. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Bernie Wray was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored in the 55th minute, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. The referee showed Marauders's Clint Doherty the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The visitors' Daniel Quarles took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs in the 67th minute. 2 - 5 for Marauders. The structure of the game started to change as Marauders decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Ansbert Rehberge came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal and lifted a ball over Grant Dixon, but it was a little too high and hit the bar. Marauders had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to inadequate. Marauders, bringing their ball possession to 71 percent, dominated the battle.

Alliance's best player was Jon Milton. Esteban Piamonte was a disappointment, however. Marauders's best player was Ansbert Rehberge. However, Nicu Oanã made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 5.

The match reports page also has a bunch of stats on how your team did in various sections of the field, and other wacky stuff.

My teams organization problems was because this was the first time they played in a 3-5-2 formation before.

Pretty much every line in it mean something specific:
"It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out." - Players with the Powerful specialty won't play as well because of being tired from the sunny weather.

"Maybe this was why Per Vinkler found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork." - Per has the Technical specialty which performs better on a sunny day.
