I can tell it's winter...

I can tell it's winter when...
...I put on multiple layers to stay inside my house.
...the sun goes down and my neighborbood becomes more brightly lit then it was at noon.
...the weather forecast switches from 'chance of rain' to 'chance of sun'.
...my neighbor gets out his chainsaw for firewood and not for remodeling.
...the local soft rock station plays holiday music 24 hours a day for 40 days.
...the late night sob-story DJ on the aforementioned station thinks 'Little Drummer Boy' is going to cheer up the lovelorn people who phone in.

Gah!

Make it stop!

That was the one thing I really hated when I worked for the Government. In the area's you had to have a Muzac/soft comtemporary rock music station over the PA system so that they could prove the the speakers worked.

The station was on an 8 hour loop, so that when you worked 9+ hours during the day you got to hear all of the ghastly Christmas songs...over...and over...and over.

Me, I love Christmas music, but in small doses. And of my own preference, please. I have to remember to put the rest of my holiday songs on iTunes.

Which reminds me -- anyone know how to unauthorize a computer to play songs you've purchased? I studdenly find I'm quickly filling up my allowable computer slots, and that's just unnecessary.

In other news, shiny laptop is still sooooooo sweet!
