Cycles
So I haven't posted quite as much over the last few days. My life tends to run in cycles and I am trying to get a routine set to break out of this one. I have this bad habit, and this was more true with hythia.com then it has been with the blog here, of updating and writing a lot in a short period of time and then letting it languish for a month with no updates.
Started to see myself do that over the weekend as I got distracted by working on content to get hythia.com back up as something, and got distracted by watching a movie with a friend ( via the cel phone ), playing CoH/CoV, and doing various SG-related stuff for aforementioned game(s).
One thing I haven't done for a while though is rant. Let me correct that now.
I am so freaking amazingly sick of drug commercials these days. The one I was listening to on the radio this morning was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
Now, it is one thing to try to get people to realize they have a problem and that maybe they need medication, but trying to pimp your anti-depressants out to the market of people who are too stupid to realize that they don't have a problem...
Okay, is there anyone out there who can honestly say 'no' to these 'symptoms':
1) Have you ever woken up and thought that today was going to be a bad day?
2) Have you ever been in a bad mood and just didn't know why?
3) Have you ever felt low on energy and didn't know why you were tired?
If so, guess what! You are all fucked up and need to buy our freakishly expensive prescription medicine to change your brain chemistry because you know, waking up in a bad mood is apparently a medical condition that has to be fixed.
It would be one thing if the commercial was phrased as "Do you often..." which would mean clinical or chronic depression, but "Have you ever..." basically means that whoever is in charge of their marketing is out there to get every single schmuck who made the mistake of turning on the radio this morning hooked on to their drug.
Yes people, little did you know, waking up on the wrong side of the bed has a pill now to cure it. Just start taking it now, and you won't wake up on the wrong side of the bed ever again in your life. Now you will likely suffer serious sexual dysfunctions, liver and kidney damage, and it may cause you to develop other psychological disorders, but who cares. You won't, you'll be too medicated to care.
I hate the world.
