Edit: The word for Octo 25 was 'Leg'.
It was once a random place for me to post random things while I wondered if I will ever get hythia.com back up and online. Now it is obsolete as hythia.com is running again.

The turkey leg dripped grease and oil. It was larger then the cooks fist as he offered it by the leg bone to man, half drunk, who had just bought it. Fumbling for a moment, putting down his mug of hard cider, the man got his wallet out to pay for his lunch before staggering a few steps away, and then remembering his mug, as he wandered off deeper into the Ren' Fair.
One of the few bits I remember from my cider-induced alcoholic haze during the last Ren' Fair I went to in upstate NY with some friends.

She stretched out her leg, and my eye was drawn to it. Long, slightly shiny in the dim light of the bar - I wanted it wrapped around me, and as I slowly brought my eyes back up to her face, pausing over her chest, I could tell from the glimmer of lust in her smile that she wouldn't argue with me.

You've been to the Upstate NY Ren Faire? When? Do you remember? Because this could be very very funny and coincidental...

He watched her as she entered the room.
She wrinkled her nose at the stench of the cigar smoke and walked up to the man with the scar down the side of his face. He couldn’t tell what they were saying to each other, but he could tell that she had perfect legs…..feet at one end.

See...now...that would be amusing if you two had met at the Ren Fest.
Aaron: You...drunk and lost at the Ren fest...
Kate: Pointing an laughing with her friends....
A passing glance...and gone.
Sadly, I have Rennies in my Family....the shame.

Oh, it's sadder than that, Dude. I used to work there.
But at least I got paid to be there. Pennies a day, practically, but a paycheck nonetheless. And they gave me swords to play with!

Sterling, NY. Last one I went to was the 22nd annual one but had been to a couple before that. Most of my memories of the last one involve lots of hard cider, turkey legs and a 'steak on a stick', a tomahawk / hatchet throwing contest where the prize was a 'Woody', getting arrested by the constable and tossed in the stocks while the executioner was discussing how best to dispose of me with the audience, and being very very drunk by the end of it to the point where the hard cider ladies cut me off.

Well....They gave you a sword...Perfectly exceptable excuse.
Do you still have it?
Where as my Step-sister and her mostly useless husband met at the Colorado Ren Fest...kept doing them when they lived in Minnesota....and are back to doing the one in Colorado again....and they dress my Nephew up...Uber- Rennies.

Yeppers. I still have my rapier. I mean, I ended up buying it. And I have a couple of little daggers -- one which was given to me as a gift, for helping teach a class, andone that's made out of a railroad spike by the late blacksmith of the fair. So, sentimental value. Plus, it's a very good letter-opener!
