The kettle whistled from atop the stove. The water was hot at last. The wind was whipping the trees outside, the winter storms had come early this year. Snow was heavy on the ground and in the air it was a white blanket so thick that it couldn't be seen through. The cocoa was poured, a warm drink, a balm against the cold.
