The Fox Island Marauders were down two to three in the final match of their cup season. Their boranch was moving the ball up the field but their opponents had forced their forwards back towards the midline with an offsides trap when the left wingback broke free of his man-mark and charged up the line in the clear. A quick pass, and a long hooking shot caught the other teams goalie off guard, pushing the game into extra time.
My brain sort of fried when the word came up, too many options and too many ways to use hook. So I blabbered about soccer which I have found at times lets me use a plethora of words I wouldn't have otherwise thought I could, in weird obtuse metaphors if nothing else.
