The door swung open quietly, the hinges freshly oiled. The room was silent as death, and reeked faintly of it as well. Blood tasted coppery in the air as he moved into the room, his eyes sweeping the shadows for movement, hand holding his gun low. The door swung shut again behind him, the latch clicking quietly as it locked itself once again.

He lifted up the latch on the gate, and slipped into the sunlit backyard. Glancing from left to right, he walked over to the backdoor, which was unlocked, as she'd promised. He crept silently through the house, up the stairs, and into the bedroom.

Since I won't be here to post for the next little bit, a continuation, untimed...

Her hair was spread across the pillow, her limbs stretched across the bed as if she was laying claim to the entire surface, not any one side. He sat lightly down on the edge of the mattress and ran his finger softly down her bare back. She stirred, and looked up at him with a sleepy grin.

"You came."

He smiled back at her. "Of course." Glancing around the room, eyes quickly passing over the signs of his rival in wedding pictures and dirty laundry, he asked, "Sure it's safe?"

"He's at work," she confirmed, reaching up to pull him to her. "Won't be home for hours."

"Hours, huh?"

She nodded, as his fingers continued to run over her skin. "Mmmm... yup. Whatsoever will we do?"

"I can think of a thing or two."

The latch made a barely audible click as he closed the door. I could hear him stepping deftly across the floor as I hid behind the couch. "Please don't let him hear me breathing," I beggged silently.

(Sorry about the earlier foobar - I was complaining that there was no way ktbuffy could have written all of hers in 60 seconds on a Blackberry. Guess that's what I get for not reading carefully, huh?)

I actually stared at that in confusion for a bit before I realized that it was the person who wrote the comment who had deleted it. Thought I had lost time or something and forgotten that I had deleted it.
