The pavement was wet with the oils and dust that the rain brought to the surface. The slick pavement, puddles of color splashing as the rain hit down. People running from doorway to doorway for shelter, traffic sounds muted in the storm. The homeless people playing cards under the bridge, wrapped in their sleeping bags, waving at the passerbys, too tired and cold to even beg for change.

It covered the road ahead, and Miranda didn't see it, her headlights just catching the glare at the last possible moment before her tires caught on the ice, and spun wildly out of control. She panicked, forgetting everything she ever knew about dealing with an ice slick.

Two posts about road slicks! Intriguing!

How odd that we both came up with the same idea. I guess the next question is, and I ask this because if you live in NYC, I am not sure if you would find owning a car to be that useful, but do either of us even drive? I had a learner's permit once, a decade ago, but never have gotten around to getting a license.
