Edit: The word for Sept 28 was 'Thread'
It was once a random place for me to post random things while I wondered if I will ever get hythia.com back up and online. Now it is obsolete as hythia.com is running again.

The weaver's hands moved over the loom, the shuttle click-clacking as it wove the thread into the greater tapestry that was being made. A spinning wheel spun in the cornor, the lady at it pressing upon the foot pedal to turn more of the combed wool to thread. And a third sat upon a stool, carding the wool with a comb.
I have to admit, I ran out of time before I finished typing comb.

Look, Ma! My English education on the classics is useful!
Penelope pulled at the silken thread, and delicately bit it, severing it between her pearly teeth. The needle clattered like ice on the floor, but the tapestry was done.
Until she picked it all out again.

Hythian, yours reminded me of those Piers Anthony books, the Intimations of Immortality, I think? But then, those three weaving women are popular figures in myth.

I haven't read those in years.. Used to have a copy of them, think I gave them away at some point. I was actually thinking more of their showing up in Sandman or in Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles. The Fates, the Grey Ladies, etc.
